VETERAN'S BENEFITS ASSISTANCE AT BELLINGHAM PUBLIC LIBRARY

U.S. veterans confused by the maze of information regarding applying for VA benefits can get free assistance at the Bellingham Public Library on Saturday, October 20. This event is presented by the Whatcom County Veteran Navigator Program, veterans helping veterans. It will take place in the Central Library Lecture Room from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Central Library is located at 210 Central Avenue in Bellingham.

Volunteers for the Whatcom County Veteran Navigator Program are veterans themselves, who are experienced with helping other veterans. The program was established by Doris Kent, the mother of Army Spc. Jonathan Santos, a Whatcom County veteran killed in Iraq. Kent launched the Whatcom County Veteran Navigator Program to help returning vets get the benefits they deserve, from local, state and federal sources.

Veterans should bring a copy of their DD 214 if they have it.

For more information, call Bellingham Public Library at 360-778-7323 or email veterannavigator@gmail.com.
