
If the library doesn't own an item you want, you may be able to borrow it from another library system through an Interlibrary Loan.
There are no fees for postage. Some libraries may charge a fee to loan items. In this case we will notify you for approval before requesting the item. The cost will be posted to your account when the item is received.
Interlibrary Loan is not available for:
Typically it will take 2 to 3 weeks. The timing depends on the number of libraries that own the item and its availability. Obscure titles can take much longer to arrive.
Can I use the Interlibrary Loan service?
Patrons with full access Bellingham Public Library cards in good standing (fines must be below $10) may use this service.
How will I be notified?
You will be notified by email or telephone messaging. Notification is
dependent on how you have your library card setup. Please call 778-7323
if you want to verify your notification setup or change your preference.
Where do I pick up Interlibrary Loans?
After you've received notification of the availability of your
Interlibrary Loan, it may be picked up at Bellingham, Barkley and Fairhaven Library locations.
Where should Interlibrary Loans be returned?
Interlibrary Loans may be returned to any of the
Bellingham Public Library locations.
How long may Interlibrary Loans be kept?
The checkout period is set by the lending library and is typically 2 to 3
weeks. There is usually the option to renew.
Is there a limit on Interlibrary Loan requests?
Yes. You are limited to three requests per day.
