Dig Into Reading
Dig Into Reading for ages 5 - 12 years: June 15 - August 31
Youth ages 5 - 12 years are challenged to read (or listen) for 15
hours this summer!
How to participate in Dig Into Reading:
Pick up a packet from the Central Library, Barkley Branch or Fairhaven
Branch Library. NOTE: If you attend a Bellingham Public Elementary school, you
will receive your packet near the end of the school year.
- Start reading! For each hour read, color in a carrot.
- When 15 stars are filled in, come to the library and
celebrate with fun prizes including a mystery coupon from one of our
Community Partners, a yard
sign, an invitation to the Summer Reading Recognition Ceremony on August
22nd and a free book from the Friends of the Library.
Be sure to visit our
calendar of events and participate in our summer programs - we have a
great line-up for ages 5 - 12, including:
Time for Tales: 45 minutes of stories, songs, movement and a craft for
ages 4 - 8 years.
Stories and crafts about northwest animals with NW Wildlife
Weekly Movie Matinees on Thursday afternoons at 2:00 p.m.
- The 45th Annual Children's Craft Fair on July 27th.
- Play Games at the Library including Just Dance on the Wii and Kinect
Sports for ages 6 - 12 years.
Hot Summer Chess series with Northwest Washington Scholastic Chess
