Closures Due To Severe Weather or Other Emergencies
Library officials work closely with Bellingham Public Works, Police, Fire and other public safety agencies to determine whether or not library services should be disrupted during severe weather or other emergencies.
Complete closures of city facilities and services — including the Bellingham Public Library — happen rarely, and closures are widely communicated when they do occur. When it is determined that conditions warrant closure or service limits, the information is announced immediately using the library website and social media sites, the local news media and other library and city communications outlets.
Severe Weather Closures
During severe weather, library patrons are encouraged to renew library materials and place holds online or by contacting us rather than driving to the library in snowy or icy conditions.
Library events and activities may be affected by service limits or closures. Check the library events calendar for current schedules or cancellations.
Closures due to weather will affect all our locations. Library Campus Connections may be closed if the college or university is closed, and will not receive holds deliveries when Bellingham Public Library is closed.
Library patrons will still be able to access the library’s catalog, enjoy eBooks and eAudiobooks and eMagazines, use our research tools and more from home regardless of the weather — so stay cozy and safe at home when the weather is severe.
