Summer Reading 2010

Make A Splash! READ! at the library June 12 - August 31

Summer reading begins with a Kick Off Party on Saturday, June 12th!

This year, we are challenging kids to read (or listen) to 15 books this summer!  Interested?  Here's how to participate!

• Pick up a summer reading packet from the Central Library, Fairhaven Branch or Barkley Branch.
• Start reading!  You get to choose the books you read!  Remember, listening to books counts too.
• Earn a penny for each book you read.  At the Central Library, Make A Splash! by throwing that penny in the fountain!  At the Fairhaven and Barkley Branches, you can toss your penny in a fish bowl.
• When you complete 15 books, let us know.  You'll receive some great goodies, including a summer reading yard sign!
• Want to read more than 15 books?  Fantastic!  Read as many as you can! 

Be sure to pick up a calendar of events and participate in our summer programs!  Did you hear that our Craft Fair won the Mayor's Art Award?  The 2010 Craft Fair will be Friday, July 30th. 

 

Mark your calendar!  The Summer Reading Recognition Ceremony is Friday, August 13 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. with Mayor Pike on the Central Library Lawn.  If you completed the Summer Reading Program, then this celebration is for you!
