The ribbon has been cut! The Bellingham Public Library Central branch main floor remodel is officially complete, and the following reopening details will allow a gradual transition to in-person services.
Beginning Monday, June 7, the Central Branch will open at 50% capacity for limited in-person services, 10 am to 3 pm Monday – Saturday. Curbside Pickup Service will continue, by appointment only, with hours changed to 4 to 6 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The Library’s call center will operate 10 am to 6 pm Monday-Saturday.
Masks will be required for all public and staff while inside the Library. Patrons will be asked to keep their overall visit to the library under 60 minutes.
Library Services available on June 7:
- In-person browsing of collections on the main floor and in the Children’s Library
- Pick up holds without an appointment
- In-person service at Help Desk and Children’s Desk
- Public restrooms
Library Services not available on June 7:
- Study and meeting rooms
- Public seating
- Public computers
- In-person storytimes
- Early Learning Center
- Donations, Friends of the Library Free books and Magazines, Friends of the Library book sale area
- Newspapers
- Microfilm
On July 1, occupancy limits at the Central branch are expected to increase from 50% to 100%. Availability of services will be updated regularly on the Library’s Frequently Asked Questions webpage.
The Fairhaven and Barkley branches are planned to reopen at 100% capacity on July 1.
