Job Location: Central Library
Position Overview:
- Ensures that books are in proper order and straighten books on the shelf
- Cleans materials
- Assists in craft preparation for library programs

Requirements:
- Between the ages of 14 – 17, must have permission from parent or legal guardian
- Ability to convey a positive, friendly attitude
- Ability to understand and follow simple instructions
- Ability to see and read fine print
- Access to dependable transportation so you can be on time
- Ability to work neatly and precisely with patience on assigned tasks
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
Training provided:
- 1 hour Library orientation, followed by 1 hour of training on book shelving, the Dewey Decimal System, other organization systems used for library collections and material cleaning methods
- Regular contact and check-in meetings with Volunteer Coordinator to answer questions, provide support and coordinate book cleaning and craft preparation assignments
Time commitment:
- Work between 4 – 5 hours a month – an hour a week
- Work during open hours, Monday through Thursday
Length of commitment:
- Minimum six month commitment
Expectations
- Follow library policy, procedures, guidelines, and values
- Ability to work agreed upon shifts and perform assigned tasks
- Convey a positive attitude with public, staff, and other volunteers
- Limit socializing with public, staff, and other volunteers
The inability to meet the above expectations will end the volunteer opportunity.
