July 2024 Bellingham Public Library Programs and Events

Bellingham Public Library presents a full line-up of programs and events in July 2024. Highlights for the month include special activities in downtown Bellingham’s Lee Memorial Park, such as Summer Night Stories and the first of two Children’s Craft Fairs for 2024.

July also features the return of the Library’s regular Children’s Storytimes lineup, as well as the continuation of the Library’s Summer Reading program for all ages, with special Summer Reading and Outdoor Adventures book lists and staff recommendations.

Locations are noted below for each program, including the Central Library, the Bellis Fair Branch, the Fairhaven Library Branch, Lee Memorial Park and online. For more information visit BellinghamPublicLibrary.org. All Library programs are free of charge.

Library Programs for Children and Teens

Baby Time*

Mondays, July 8, 15, 22, 29

10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Dodson Room, Central Library

Join Children’s Librarian Bernice and learn a variety of fun songs, rhymes, and lap plays. We will read stories and talk about the five early literacy practices: talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing with your baby and how to easily incorporate these into your daily routines. The last portion of class is dedicated to baby play time and time for parents/caregivers to connect. For babies ages birth – 12 months with a parent/caregiver. Pre-registration is required! Getting Crafty @ the Library

For ages 6 – 12. Join us for some crafting fun. Each month the Library will focus on a new craft or put out a bunch of supplies and have open crafting time. All supplies and snacks are provided. No registration needed.

Builders Club at the Fairhaven Branch

For children ages 4 – 12. Unleash the builder in you. All supplies are provided, including Legos, straw connectors, and more. Duplos and other blocks will also be available for younger children. No registration needed.

Read, Write, and Draw: A Graphic Novel Book Group*

Wednesdays, July 24 and August 21

2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Dodson Room, Central Library

For ages 10 – 14. Read a selected graphic novel and discuss the writing, book, and explore the art. Try out art techniques inspired by the selected book. All art supplies and snacks provided.

Children’s Craft Fair at the Central Library

Support young entrepreneurs and enjoy a wide array of handmade crafts and baked goods created by local kids ages 13 and under at the annual Children’s Craft Fair at the Central Library on Friday, July 26. All items are priced $5 or less; cash only sales. Located outside the Library in Lee Memorial Park, this event is fun for all ages to browse and buy unique treasures from 11 am to 1 pm.

Ozobots: Learn to Code at the Central Library!*
